Something new!
NYP. You might think it stands for New York Pizza (yum, pizza!), but we’re talking about the Neighborhood Youth Project.
Churches are teaming up—Congregational United Church of Christ and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)—for a neighborhood youth group. Every first and third Sunday of the month*, middle school and high school youth will meet at one our churches from 5:30-7:00 for dinner and conversation, service projects, and fun.
*In September, NYP will meet on the third and fifth Sundays.
NYP will meet at First Christian on the first Sunday of the month and at Congregational on the third Sunday of the month.
Here’s the schedule for the fall:
September 16: First Christian
September 30: Congregational
October 7: First Christian
October 21: Congregational
November 4: First Christian
November 18: Congregational
December 2: First Christian
December 16: Congregational
Sounds good, right? We’re excited!
The NYP is not a replacement for existing opportunities at our faith communities. NYP is ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY for our neighborhood youth (and everybody else, too!). Imagine serving, learning, and hanging out together. We’ll make more friends and have more adult mentors. We’ll build bridges between our communities and we’ll impact the Greensboro community.
Youth, we want to learn a little about you. (Fill out this participant form.)
Parents and guardians, we need permission for your youth to participate in the program and to be transported by authorized leaders. (Grownups, fill out this permission form.)
There are several (awesome) leaders from each of the churches. The Neighborhood Youth Project Coordinator is Rev. Melissa Guthrie Loy. Contact her by email: Melissa@fccgreensboro.org. Call Melissa at First Christian Church: 336.273.4725.
NYP leaders invite youth to consider worshiping with them at all of the churches. (Is it a requirement to worship somewhere other than my home church? Not at all!) If you want to know where NYP leaders are on Sunday mornings, check out this worship schedule. (Coming soon!)
There’s more! Check out this special events calendar for ways to connect beyond Sunday night. (Coming soon!)
Where is each church located?
Congregational is located at 400 West Radiance Dr.
First Christian Church is located at 1900 West Market St.
Does your faith community want to participate?
We’d love to have you! Youth, join us! Parents and leaders, tell your kids about this opportunity!
If you are interested in possible partnership with the host churches, let us know.
Not currently connected to a faith community?
Not a concern! Youth from the area are welcome to check out the NYP gatherings whether or not they’re connected to a host church or any church. Contact Melissa to learn more, ask questions, or find out how to connect.
