Even if the church in ages past has celebrated Pentecost Sunday in the midst of a plague or pandemic, there never has been any such occasion as we anticipate this Sunday. In the past, I can imagine a time when Christians found physical distancing necessary although I’m not sure they observed such restrictions. The unprecedented factor in 2020 is the availability of digital communication, by which we are keeping our connections visually as well as audibly.
Woody Faulkner and I thank you for granting us the privilege of leading worship remotely from the church building, and we are sincerely grateful for the level of interest and participation in our Sunday services.
Pentecost has been among my favorite days in the church year, and this year more than ever we pray for the encouragement and empowerment of the Holy Spirit .
