by Melissa Guthrie Loy–
In the coming weeks a new song will be our preparation for prayer: “In This Very Room” by Ron and Carol Harris. We have adapted the hymn to also serve as our proclamation.
In this very room, there’s quite enough love. In this very room, there’s quite enough joy.
And quite enough hope, and quite enough power. We sing of and we share God’s love and joy and power.
Come, let us sing to the Lord Jesus who is in this room and is with us beyond this place.
To a certain degree, the words echo what I heard Pastor Lee say in her January 27 sermon. First Christian, there is enough love. There is enough joy. Enough hope. And enough power. I feel encouraged for the days ahead. Sure, we have work to do. Well, there’s always work to do. We now have a particular task in front of us as we begin a ministerial search. But I am encouraged for the days ahead.
In our very church, there’s enough love. There’s enough joy. Enough hope. And enough power. My prayer is that we not focus only inwardly but outwardly, too. The world needs to hear our song and receive God’s love and joy and power.
