The reality is that life sometimes leads us through the wilderness and into the desert, whether it’s an unexpected illness, a job loss, a tough relationship, or just a rough patch.
The season of Lent – the six weeks leading up to Holy Week and Easter –gives us an opportunity to walk this desert path together.
With scripture in hand, the support of our community surrounding us, and the promise that God will never let us walk alone, we step out into the wilderness, together.
Lent beings on Ash Wednesday, March 5, with a service at 7:00 p.m. It’s a simple but powerful service in which we confess before God that we live in a broken world
and pray for forgiveness, reconciliation, and healing. We practice the ancient tradition of receiving ashes on our foreheads, a sign of our mortality and the grace received from God.
Sunday, March 9 is the first Sunday of Lent and also Laity Sunday.
Our elders and other leaders will lead worship, lifting up the gifts of our laity and beginning our walk through the desert.
On Sunday evenings at The Street, we’ll have another opportunity to walk through the season of Lent together.
