“Into the Depths: Deepening our Spiritual Lives”

The season of Lent, a time when we prepare for Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem and to the cross, offers us a chance for self-reflection and growth, a chance to think deeply about how we can grow closer to God, a chance to incorporate in our daily lives reminders of God’s presence, gifts and calling of us. Spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, and reading scripture offer concrete ways of quieting our minds so that we may listen more closely for God’s voice. Sometimes we may not know where or how to begin with these practices or we may find it difficult to do them on our own.
For the six weeks of Lent, I will be leading an evening series that will offer the chance to experience different types of spiritual practices. Each session will last an hour and will include a brief devotional, some history about that week’s practice, instruction in the practice, the chance to practice together and some time to reflect on our experience. If you are interested in exploring prayer, meditation or spiritual reading and the ways in which these practices can deepen your spiritual life, I invite you to join us on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm beginning on Monday, February 27th. Why not invite a friend to come along?
In order to offer this class, I need at least five people to commit to attending four out of six sessions, so please let me know if you are interested or if you have questions (thandiwe@fccgreensboro.org).
