Events and Activities

Upcoming Outreach Events

We have a lot going on right now in our outreach ministries!

Canning Class: July 25
Coming up on July 25 at 6:00 P.M., Dawn Benbow will be leading a canning class at the church.  The jars will be provided, as will the tomatoes.  Don’t miss this very fun and interesting experience!

Summer of Service Work Day: July 31
Our next Summer of Service day is on July 31.  It will begin at 9:00 A.M. and end at 12:00 P.M. with refreshments.  We will be clearing trails at Kopper Top, a non-profit organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding and animal-assisted therapy for individuals with disabilities.  (Because Kopper Top is located at a farm, we will have to drive about 25 minutes to get there, so we should not expect to be finished early, like we were on the July 10 Summer of Service day.)  We will also be building a greenhouse at the Community Garden and cooking for members of our congregation.  Kids will paint artwork to hang in patients’ rooms at Beacon Place.

Ten Thousand Villages Work Project: August 2
On August 2 at 4:40 P.M. we will be painting fixtures in the Ten Thousand Villages store, a fair trade organization.  We will meet at the church and drive over together.  If you are unable to be there at 4:40, you are welcome to join us later!  We will be finished by 8:00 P.M.

Summer of Service Work Day: August 14
During our August 14 Summer of Service workday, we will be hosting a back-to-school party for 40-60 kids and their families at Glen Haven.  Many of these families are newly arrived refugees and will greatly benefit from this.  To prepare for this party, we are collecting backpacks and school supplies to be distributed to the kids.  These donations may be put in the donations box in the narthex and monetary donations may be labeled Summer of Service and placed in the offering trays.

All of these will be wonderful experiences and we hope you will join us for them!  You can sign up by e-mailing Alison at outreach@fccgreensboro.org.

Parents Group

Join other parents for lots of laughter (and an hour of kid-free time!), as we share the joys and trials of raising kids. This group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of every month at 7:00; childcare is provided.

The parents group is on hiatus for the summer and will resume meetings in September.

Brown Bag Bible Study

Bring your lunch and join Rev. Moses for an informal Bible study at 12:00 noon on Tuesdays through August 17. We’ll explore the scriptures to be used in worship the following Sunday. All are welcome.

Ten Thousand Villages Workday

On August 2, we will be painting fixtures at Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade organization.  We will meet at the church at 4:40 P.M. and will be finished by 8:00 P.M.  If you are unable to join us at 4:40, you are welcome to come later!  You may sign up for this event in the narthex or by e-mailing Alison Simon at outreach@fccgreensboro.org.

July 31 Summer of Service

We hope you will join us for this opportunity!  You may sign up in the narthex or by e-mailing Alison Simon at outreach@fccgreensboro.org.

Scrapbook and Craft Night

Every fourth Friday, 6:30- 11 pm

  • Bring a snack to share and your own beverage.
  • Bring whatever project you are working on and enjoy the fellowship.
  • Bring a friend.

Fall Festival

This fun festival is a combination Chili and Cornbread Cook Off, and outdoor extravaganza featuring cake walks, games, face painting, and pumpkin roll races followed by everyone enjoying and judging the best corn bread and chili in the congregation. Adults and children alike participate in these fun activities, especially the eating of the wonderful chili and cornbread!

Annual CMF Barbecue

This fun activity is carried out by the men of the church to raise funds for outreach projects sponsored by the CMF. The men enjoy the fellowship of working together to prepare, pack and sell the BBQ one weekend a year. This project is supported by the entire congregation as BBQ is loved by almost everyone, including the little ones!

Annual Church Picnic

This is an annual church-wide event providing the opportunity for all ages to participate in all manner of summertime outdoor athletic and non-athletic activities. The fun and fellowship in such an informal atmosphere is enjoyed by all who participate.

Third Wednesday Fellowship (TWF)

Once a month, on Wednesday nights, a pot luck supper is held for fun and fellowship of all ages. This provides opportunities for members to visit, share ideas about outreach opportunities, or just to catch up with their existing friends, as well as to make new friends. This venue is often used to provide information regarding the status of current programs, missions, and ministries in the life of the church. There is always a lively discussion going on at each table. The evening ends with a drawing of door prizes. Visitors are always welcome!
