Expecting Miracles

Mark 10:46-52
First thoughts toward Sunday’s message:

Bartimaeus doesn’t have much going for him. He sits blind and begging on the roadside outside Jericho, clearly someone who has been overlooked by society. He doesn’t even have much of a name: Bartimaeus just means “Son of Timaeus,” and  Mark is the only one of the gospel writers who even names him. He could easily have been left behind by history.

Except that he had heard about Jesus, and when Jesus walked by, he could barely contain his excitement. The crowds tried to quiet him, but he didn’t give up. He was so sure that Jesus could help.

Turns out he was right.

What if we were so sure? What if we ran up to Jesus, arms wide open, fully expecting a miracle?
